Program Summary for Star Wars The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the latest animated series in the Star Wars franchise to hit the small screen. The series takes place in between the films Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The following familiar characters (along with a few new faces) feature in the show: Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), Padmé Amidala (Catherine Taber), Yoda (Tom Kane), Chancellor Palpatine (Ian Abercrombie) and General Grievous (Matthew Wood). The introduction to the series is a feature length film released in theaters August 15th, 2008 in the US. This will be the first Star Wars film in 3-D animation to be in theaters. Twenty-two episodes have been ordered for the first, second and third seasons. Broadcast History: "Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered with two back-to-back episodes on October 3, 2008 at 9:00pm (ET) on Cartoon Network. Repeat episodes aired at 8:30pm (ET), directly before new episodes premiered at 9:00pm (ET). New episodes continued to premiere Fridays at 9:00pm (ET) until the end of season. The second season premiered with two back-to-back episodes on October 2, 2009 at 8:00pm (ET) on Cartoon Network. This season is also known as "Rise of the Bounty Hunters." On November 13, 2009 new episodes began premiering at 9:00pm (ET). New episodes continued to premiere Fridays at 9:00pm (ET) until the end of the season. The third season premiered with two back-to-back episodes on September 17, 2010 at 9:00pm (ET) on Cartoon Network.

Episode Summary:
This episode can certainly dispute the title of best season finale.

We find Ahsoka and her rag tag friends stuck in a deadly Trandoshan killing game they percieve as "sport". Ahsoka rallies her companions to fight back against the villains, and their first action is to destroy the transport ship that drops off the new targets for the Trandoshan "sport".

After destroying this ship, a lone prisoner emerges from the wreckage - Chewbacca.

And thus the episode goes from average to brilliant. Chewbacca, who was speculated to just be a gimmick and marketing ploy to get people to watch this episode, is actually useful and meaningful. He aids Ahsoka and co in establishing communications with the outside world, and saves Ahsoka's life. He then becomes the resolution by getting Tarrful and his wookie company to launch a rescue siege on the aerial HQ of the Trandoshans.

Besides Chewbacca, there were some interesting points in this episode. The most notable is the direction in which Ahsoka is headed, especially after she kills the Trandoshan leader when he could have been spared. At the end, Yoda gazes at Ahsoka in an interesting way (perhaps he suspects something, or thinks her ready for knighthood) which should hopefully shape the future series.

The episode is certainly well paced after Chewbacca enters the scene, and the action is well done as always. The animation is brilliant and is one of the things this show can pride itself on.

The only two problems with this episode are the sloppiness and slow pace before Chewbacca, and the fact that this is only a duology and is largely shadowed out by the previous trilogy which had a way larger scale and higher stakes - which some may find more exciting than this, which focuses solely on Ahsoka and her small group.

All in all, a thrilling episode which was well crafted and simply well done overall, besides those minor hiccups. Nine out of ten.
