Program Summary for Damages
Damages is a legal thriller set in the world of New York City high-stakes litigation. The series, which provides a view into the true nature of power and success, follows the turbulent lives of Patty Hewes, the nation's most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator, and her bright, ambitious protégé Ellen Parsons. They become embroiled in a class action lawsuit targeting the allegedly corrupt Arthur Frobisher, one of the country's wealthiest CEOs. As Patty battles with Frobisher and his attorney Ray Fiske, Ellen Parsons will be front and center witnessing just what it takes to win at all costs, as it quickly becomes clear that lives, as well as fortunes, may be at stake. FX has renewed the show for a further two seasons.

Damages has done it again. They've taken a relateable story in the headlines (a Madoff type getting tried for stealing 70 billion) and made it into simply addictive television. But what is different from past seasons is that the viewer is able to actually keep track of everything going on, almost to the point that the "6 Months Later" tags got annoying. Last season lost a lot of people, and I have a feeling the coming weeks will definitely add complexity to this story arc, but as of right now I think where everyone stands is pretty easy to understand.
This show is just nothing short of brilliant though and Season 3 is off to an incredible start. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. |
