Episode Summary: | The one thing about this show that I love is the mature way of handling the evolving relationship between Castle and Beckett. It isn't one of the many and thousands of will they/won't they every week, it's more of a can they, over time, finally move into a relationship. This episode did an amazing job, especially with the reveal that Beckett's mother's killer was within grasps.
The story was pretty interesting, introducing us to some organized crime families that can always bring about interesting tales of loyalty and federal government involvement.
The ending was very surprising and I could understand Castle's feelings for what he did, but when Beckett cleared it up with her little secret, all was OK. And that was where the relationship aspect really shinned.
But really, this professional, ruthless killer comes up with such an cockeyed plan as that? In the end, it didn't really matter as much. |

Episode Summary: | Another very strong episode of Castle following last weeks great episode. This one starts off strong with the piece about Castle and Beckett on the front page of the paper. Then we see one of the more clever plots that the team has ever uncovered.
From a romantic standpoint this episode was very satisfying. We get to see jealousy, passive aggressive behavior, obvious single minded natures, and finally the truth about both Castle and Beckett. The "dates" and the fact they both go pretty much the same way was very interesting. Both Beckett and Castle are more about the job than anything else. I think it's the things that give them common ground that really makes them work together in so many ways. I loved the little turn of the hair for Beckett in both instances and especially Castle's reaction to the first time he see's it. She does the action with so little effort. Katic is actually turning out to be a wonderful actress and very much an equal of the veteran Fillion. What marvelous casting.
The story tonight was pretty smart in both sense of the word. Smart in that it was a very intelligent plot and smart in the fact that it was not predictable as many of the previous Castle episodes have unfortunately been and looked really good. I won't say a lot about the storyline but it was great to see Beckett and Castle working out the details in their minds separately and together. The writing is wonderful in that the two characters make one fit so perfectly with the other. Also I would like to mention Rick Gonzalez who played Mickey Carlson the person who really helped break the case for our team. Gonzalez played Bret Harrison's sidekick Ben, one of the main characters on Reaper for the two seasons the show was on TV. It was nice to see him guest starring.
Overall a very satisfying and enjoyable episode of Castle. We get to see some really good acting and writing when this show is clicking and boy was it clicking tonight. Thanks for reading... |

Episode Summary: | A show highlighted by a cameo by Dodgers Manager and eventual Hall of Famer Joe Torre. (You knew I would mention that didn't you!) This episode gets a plus .5 for that scene and Beckett's reaction!
Overall this episode would be termed filler to me The show has been on a roll. The story on this episode turned out to be a little on the sloppy side. We have the Agent played by the Devil himself, Ray Wise, a number of former ball players, a loan shark, and then the very attractive wife of nine years, Maggie Vega played by Chandra West.
You never seriously looked at the wife as the suspect even though she had suspicions that her husband was cheating on her. But when Castle and Beckett get the picture of the other women they start to work the angles. Through some very good detective work they managed to pull the case together with as always the major help of the two sidekicks Ryan and Esposito. All in all a pretty ho hum case with the killing turning itself into a neat little bow at the end. That was a nice twist though and a heartwarming scene at the end with the widow. I really expected something a little more sinister myself. No worries though as the series has been excellent this second season and looking really good for a third. Let's hope they pull out all the stops for these last seven episodes now. At least I think they are shooting 22 this season. It's hard to keep track with the networks these days. They all keep adding episodes to this season to make up for all the shows they've canceled. Thanks for reading... |

Episode Summary: | Another so so episode of Castle here. I guess two good episodes in a row left me a bit spoiled and we were overdue for another disappointing installment. Usually I don't like the Castle and Alexis scenes, but I have to say that they were probably the highlight of the episode here today. Seeing her struggles and his reactions turned out to be good TV. But the actual case this week was a letdown in my eyes. Just some stereotypical shots at NY area Italians and the "twist" of the female you don't expect being responsible for it all...yawn.
Okay episode, nothing to rave about though. |
