Episode Summary: | It's taken me awhile to let go of Robert (Rob Lowe) but with this episode, I realized that Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Seth (Ryan Devlin) are a good match. I enjoy them together. Calista just rocked in this episode. Loved the scenes where Sarah and Luc helped Kitty vamp it up at the restaurant to get Seth back. Hilarious and sexy. The other main plot of this episode, involving the finalizing of Olivia's adoption, took an interesting turn when a long-lost brother arrived and was homophobic towards Kevin (Matthew Rhys) and Scotty (Luke MacFarlane). The scenes at the judge's chamber were very thought-provoking. Solid writing and good performances distinguish this offering from season 5. |

Episode Summary: | Just give her the Emmy now! Sally Field was extraordinary in this episode, with Nora having to eulogize a mother who often made her life impossible. The scenes at the temple just blew me away. I also thought Ron Rifkin (Saul) was fabulous, especially towards the end of the episode where he reads Ida's letter. I liked it when Justin and Luc went to the convalescent home and found the photograph of Justin's grandfather. The only part of this episode that dragged was the comic relief involving Scotty's mother, but even that had a nifty resolution. I wish Kitty had been in this one. But overall, an otherwise perfect episode. And kudos to the producers for showing some vintage photographs of actress Marion Ross (Ida) from earlier in her career. Nice touch! |
